Frequently Asked Questions

  • What would you consider your best wine?
When it comes to wine we all have our preferences. If we're talking in terms of which wine we favor the most, Joe is a fan of the Petite Pearl.
  • Can you talk about your history with this vineyard?
Our story began on a road trip to New York, where the idea of making our own winery came up. Our parents supported our idea and helped us along the way. Over the years we developed a number of different wines and began expanding our garden.
  • What is your oldest wine?
Our oldest wine would be the Marquette which is two years old. The taste is considered to be smooth and soft on the palette, since the harshness calmed down after two years.
  • Which grapes do you grow on this vineyard?
We grow the standard red and white grapes for our wines, and the Marquette grapes that we purchase from the University of Minnesota. We also use grapes from California, since Vermont doesn't have an extended growing season, it's difficult to use just Vermont grapes.
  • What food would you pair with each wine?
At the moment, we'd like to pair each wine with local cheeses and chocolate from Lake Champlain Chocolates. We encourage you to find a combo that works to your taste, while we're in the process of finding the "perfect pair" for each of our wines.
  • Do you sell your wine online?
We do not currently sell our wine online, since we enjoy the experience of seeing our customers face to face and are soon opening up a tasting room and an open deck for customers to relax. The decision to sell our wines online may change in the future.
  • What’s the condition of the landscape you use to grow your grapes?
We take care of our grapes all year around, from the sunny summers to the chilly winters we make sure the grapes are cared for properly. The soil we use is deep, well-drained and fertile which is a perfect condition for our grapes to flourish.
  • What should I be noticing when I taste this wine?
    - Our Petite Pearl has a taste that is considered to be full-bodied with substantial tannins, and it finishes very well. - The Frontenac Gris has notes of Grapefruit, peach & pineapple. - Our white wine La Crescent has a taste that is a semi-dry to sweet. The sweetness is not sugary, more like a comfortable wine you can drink in the summertime.
